We are very Thankful

Thanksgiving was a great time with family and a great time to relax. (Above are some pictures from our trip) Greg's parents were in Texas visiting his brother, so we went to the beach with my parents. There are many great things about grandparents, but I have to say one really enjoyable thing is to wake up hand the baby to the grandparents and go back to bed. It was great to get a little bit more sleep. I think that we are finally over the ear infection after 2 rounds of antibiotics and a couple of trips to the doctor. While we were at the beach we took Wesley to see Santa. Greg found out that Santa was at the Bass Pro Shop. You have never seen a dad more willing or excited to wait in line to get a picture with Santa. Memories. We are excited about the upcoming holiday and celebrating the wonders and joy of Christmas with our healthy baby boy. If you have a second please continue to pray for his health and development. Many of you have asked for our new address, so here it is, we would love to hear from you or see you if you are ever this way!

Physical Therapy

Wesley has been receiving Physical and Play therapy once a week for about a month now. They come to the house to work with him. He loves it and so do I. What a blessing this has been. There are no big problems they just work with him helping him meet the next developmental milestone. Right now he is working on rolling over and tummy time. He improves each week! Our physical therapist has been really fun to get to know. She is a first time mom and she has a little boy that was born at 33 weeks in May and he was growth restricted. We have been through a lot of the same things and it has been such a blessing to connect with her. She works with Wesley on an exercise ball and he loves it. He practices sitting up and rolling over on the ball. It is a fun way for him to learn those skills. Both of our therapists come from the Sandhills Children's center which is where we have Young Life club every week. We are getting to know them now on a whole different level and it is a pretty amazing place.

First cold & Ear Infection

This is what my bedside table looks like. A little for me, a little for him. Wesley got his first cold last week. It is no fun to have a baby that is congested and there is not much that you can do about it. He has been fighting his cold for a week and we thought that we were on the up swing, then I caught his cold and he got an ear infection. This past Thursday Wesley woke up and screamed and slept and did not eat for the majority of the day. I finally got him to the Dr. and he has an ear infection. Sweet. We are now on an antibiotic and ear drops. He now has diarrhea from the medicine and still has a bad cough and keeps gagging himself. Praying for a quick recovery, please join me. Since I am nursing there is no medicine that I can really take so I am sticking to tissues and Ibuprofen. Fun times!

I can't believe that our little boy is 7 months old today. The above pictures are some higlights of months number 6! He is growing and changing everyday. A month ago he weighed 16 pounds. He is babbling and talking to us, smiling, lauging, drooling, putting everything in his mouth, holding his head up really well, turning to look at you when you talk, grabbing toys, sucking his thumb, and bringing so much joy to his mommy and daddy. I couldn't imagine life without him. He has already been to 2 college football games and 2 Young Life camps. He is a busy boy! Sorry for the lack of posts. We have been settling into our new area and its been busy. When we finish unloading all the boxes I will posts some pictures of the house!

We love you guys! Thanks for reading my blog!

Wesley Eats Rice Cereal for the First Time!

Tonight we fed Wesley rice cereal for the first time. After much thought we decided to try it out. Wesley will be 6 months in a couple of days. Even though he is only 3 months developmentally they suggest starting preemies at 6 months of actual age. Here is a little video of our experience. I am not sure if any of it made it into his belly. He seemed to have a good time, and that's what it is all about! Right? or is that the hokey pokey? Enjoy!

Wesley's Halo

We had to take Wesley this past week to Wake Forrest to get his head shape looked at. Our pediatrician recommended that we go and get another opinion on his head shape. Preemies often have a different shaped head because everything has to finish developing outside of the womb. Preemies heads tend to grow more up than out. Since Wesley was born so early there are a couple of spots that they want to work on get symmetrical and they feel that

they can do that with a helmet. I was hoping that he would not have to have one but he did. Even though there is nothing wrong and it is just cosmetic, for me it feels like we have taken a step back when I see him in it. For three months of his life I never saw my little boy without something cumbersome and restraining on him so it was hard for me to have to do this. He has to wear it for 4 months 22 hrs. a day. I am getting use to it and he does not seem to mind it. Yes, it is Carolina blue and we are not Carolina fans so that has been fun. We are thinking of how we can decorate it for him so if you have any ideas let me know. He now knows how his dad feels. Everyone always asks Greg "Did you play basketball?" and he sadly says no, now everyone asks Wesley "Do you play football?" and he sadly says my parents won't let me yet.

5 Months old

Here is a picture at 4 months. Do you think he has changed????

Wesley is 5 months old (real birthday) and 2 months old adjusted age. Here are a couple of pictures in his big boy t-shirt and shorts ( I know why babies wear onsies). Loving me some Wesley!

Playing on the Play Gym

Wesley and I try to take time everyday to get on the floor and play together. Here are some pictures of him on his play gym. He is starting to focus on things and swat at them with his hands. We try to do some tummy time everyday as well. Tomorrow I am going to the Baptist church to try a Kindermusic class out. I am trying to meet some moms and get involved. Isn't he a cutie!

Update

I don't know where to start. So much has happened since my last post. We were suppose to move August 27th and it all happen the same day. (closing on our house in Greensboro and closing on our new house here.) Well... it was going way to smooth. We got a call about 4 o'clock (the day before closing at 9am the next morning when the U-haul truck was almost completely loaded with all of our personal belongings) that we were not going to be closing on our house in Greensboro the next day because the girl that was buying our house her loan was not ready. So we waited an extra day in Greensboro at Greg's parents b/c everything we had was already packed in a truck that we were paying for. To make a really long story not so long: we ended up coming down here and unloading all of our belongings into the garage of our new house and were told everyday that it would be one more day until we found out a week and a half later that the loan branch that our buyer went through was being shut down for loan fraud. We stayed in a committee members house here in Pinehurst and waited. We finally were able to move into our new house, but still have not closed on our house in Greensboro. We are loving it here, but needless to say have not had much time to blog. Wesley is so big and changing everyday. He is constantly smiling at you when he is awake starting to coo and talk. 2 weeks ago he weighed 13lbs 2oz. I am loving staying at home with him. Being a mom is awesome.

Can the Sound of Packing Tape Make you Go Deaf?

We are so excited about our new house and our move next week. We will be packing up the truck Wednesday night at 5pm for anyone that would like to help, we need all the help that we can get. I have really discovered what it means to live in the moment and just take it one day at a time. It is kind of scary to think how calm and not overwhelmed I am. (ask me again next Wednesday) Maybe I am in denial or it is just God . I am going with the latter, b/c frankly rivers scare me. That was funny(get it denial - The Nile) sorry for lame jokes. Here are some pictures of the new house. I include three pics that are my favorite features. We are truly blessed to have landed it and can't wait to make it ours. Outside of the house, I was so excited that it had grass! A lot of homes in that area do not.
The kitchen
The screened in porch that overlooks the huge fenced in back yard. Scout is going to love it!

We are feeling every emotion possible going in to this move, but mostly excited. I can't wait to be done with all the packing. The best thing about our house is that we have room to grow and have people over. So if you are ever in the neighborhood, stop on by, we would love to see you.

On the Wesley note, he is doing great. He had his 4 month immunizations and was sore from those, but he took it like a champ. After spinal taps and blood transfusions immunizations are a walk in the park. He still is on the verge of 12 lbs. He is becoming more aware everyday. He is starting to look around and focus on things and making little noises. I have so enjoyed the past couple of weeks and am bonding with him in new ways. He is such a stud.

Greg is doing great with his new job and Wesley and I are joining him down there tomorrow for a leaders retreat. Please pray for all the new transitions. We are excited about what God has in store for us and excited that he never leaves us or forsakes us. The same God who so intimately cared for us in Greensboro and Asheville will care for us in the Sandhills. What more could you ask for. Gotta go to bed, someone is going to waking up in a couple of hours.

Bath Time!

Here we Go!
Relaxing in the tub

The defiled tub

Snuggling up after the bath

Here are a couple of pictures of Wesley's bath time at Mimi and Pawpaw's. Wesley loves taking a bath if you have the water warm enough. I have been having fun bathing him. Who wouldn't love a sponge bath in the warm tub? I know I would. Everything was going great till the water started having this stuff float in it (I think you know what I am talking about) Wesley pooped in the bathtub for the first time. I love my clean little boy.

Vacation at Mimi's and PawPaw's

Greg started his first week of work this past Monday and was in the Sandhills for the week, so Wesley and I stayed a couple of nights with my parents. We had a lot of fun and they were a big help. I have not been that good at taking a lot of pictures, but here are a couple from our week there. Wesley went to the eye doctor for his ROP and it is completely resolved! He will not go blind now. He also went to the Pediatrician and weighed in at 10 pounds 12 ounces. Holy big baby! Wesley turned 4 months on the 5th but his adjusted age is 3 weeks this past Thursday.
We are so enjoying him and I love having my hubby back home. I heard he did a great job his first week!

Just had a bath. Trying to keep the head warm.

Tummy time

Wesley meets my brother Chad for the first time. One of the special people that Wesley is named after is my brother Chad Wesley Kraska.

Here are some recent pictures of our not so little guy. Last week Wesley weighed 9 lbs. 11 oz, so we are pretty sure that he is over 10lbs. We will find out Tuesday when we go to the Pediatrician. We have officially been home for 3 weeks. In the three weeks that we have been home we have: brought a baby home from the NICU, sold a house, bought house, and Greg has started a new job. It has been busy. Some exciting news Wesley slept 6 hours last night! I fed him at 1am and he didn't eat again until 7 am. I was pretty excited, but thought that he would never wake up. Sleep is so good.
