Wesley's First Snow

all bundled up and ready to go outside!

standing in the snow, boy this stuff is cold
just chillin in the snow

mommy, what is that?

hanging out in the snow with daddy

our first snow in Aberdeen
it is cold out here!

It snowed!!!! This is our first snow since moving to the Sandhills and Wesley's first snow ever! Since we moved from Greensboro it snows every other day there. We bundled Wesley all up and took him out for a second to experience the chilly white goodness. He thought that it was pretty cool (no pun intended). We are having so much fun with our little boy. His new trick is saying "hey, hey, hey, hey". More on that later, for right now we are enjoying the snow and being stuck inside all together.

Mirror Mirror on the Door

The people that we bought our house from I think liked looking at themselves because on both of the outsides of the bathroom doors there are full length mirrors. It took me a while to get use them. Before I kind of enjoyed not knowing what my whole outfit really looked like together or when I dry my hair with the bathroom door open I miss not knowing what the back of my hair looks like. I never saw these things so I just never thought that much about it. (Maybe a bad thing) anyway... Wesley loves the mirrors. Here are some fun pictures of him sitting in front of the mirror in our bathroom in the Bumbo seat looking at himself. What a cutie.

The Helmet Update

His new "Large" helmet on the left
Number 1027! I have not removed the stickers yet! How can you not love that face.
What I get to wake up to every morning
Putting tape over the glasses to protect his eyes from the laser
shooting his head with the laser gun.. It puts a perfect 3D image of his skull on the computer. Every little bump and curve
Putting on the glasses to protect his eyes
This is the Eeyore that plays "Do your ears hang low" in a really depressing voice that they distract him with
Taking pictures with the do-rag on

We went to Wake Forest for Wesley's helmet appointment. The Dr. that he sees is in Baptist hospital and is a plastic surgeon (weird) They schedule all the babies that have to wear helmets and have cleft pallets and such on Tuesdays they said so when people are there getting boob jobs and tummy tucks they won't fell bad seeing all these babies. He has worn his helmet for 4 months now. When he first got it I was so upset and it was a hard thing for me to swallow him having to wear this helmet all the time, but I am so glad that we have done it. What a change it has made in the shape of his head! Now when he is not wearing his helmet he looks naked. Above are pictures of his appointment they start at the bottom and go to the top. It is the coolest thing that they do. They take pictures of his head with a laser and it puts this perfect image of his skull on the computer 3D and they can put the new and old images next to each other so you can see how much the shape of his head has changed. These helmets work miracles. I still don;t really understand it but it takes pressure off of his head so it can form round. It has helped realign his ears and his cheeks and push back his forehead. He still is wearing his helmet (and had to get a larger one) but only when he sleeps. He has to do this for 2 months and then I think he is done!! It has surprisingly never really bothered him. There have been a couple times when I have gone in his room in the middle of the night and he has his helmet around his arm. He is a joy!!!!!!!!!

Buzzers and Barfing

We found out or were reminded today of things that Wesley does not like. For dinner he tried Turkey and rice dinner. He had a couple of bites accompanied by pears and instead of spitting them back out at us and refusing them he decides to barf them up and act like he is choking. Wesley is getting to be a pro at this lately. We are now on our third cold of the season and this one is also going on week 2. When he gets a lot of congestion he just throws it up. My carpet loves it. Tonight we decided to try taking Wesley to a basketball game. We tried before taking him to a high school game, but this was a church league basketball game so we thought that since it was on a smaller scale it would be different. No so much. He screamed and screamed and screamed. We had to leave we could not calm him down at all. I hate those buzzers. Why are they so loud?
We are doing great. We are loving it here. Our house is coming together. I need to post some pictures. We are slowly making friends our age and trying to get involved some outside of YL activities. I am starting MOPS this week and am still doing Musikgarten. Wesley is doing great. He has really made progress with his therapies and his delays right now are minor. We are so thankful for that and praying that they stay minor. Everyone is so impressed at how well he is doing. We do have to work with him everyday doing different exercises and helping him reach his next goals. I am going to start trying him on some formula and so far he does not like it so much. Any ideas on that or what worked for you?

Wesley can Roll over!!!

This is kind of old news to some, but on December 17th Wesley rolled over for the first time from his back to his belly. That is right , from his back to his belly. He loves doing it and I finally got it on camera for all of you to enjoy. He is so fun right now and we are enjoying every minute with him.

Happy New Year!

Wesley's Christmas tree

What a year 2009 was! It was probably the most life changing year either of us has experienced and one of the greatest. We are so thankful of how God has taken care of us and provided for us. We would not change a thing. Looking forward to 2010. We wouldn't mind a boring year!

A trip to Great Grandma's House

Wesley and Great Grandma Janet
Playing together

Pappy, Nana, Wesley, Aunt Connie, & Uncle Chris

4 Generations

On Saturday the day after Christmas we took a ride to Appomattoxx, VA to celebrate Christmas with Greg's grandmother Janet and that whole side of the family. I think we counted that there were 28 people all together. Wesley got to meet many great aunts and second cousins for the first time. It is always a fun trip to his grandmother's house. We were excited for Wesley's first trip there. Greg has lots of fun memories playing at that house as a kid and we know Wesley will as well. Aunt Connie & Uncle Chris stopped by to say hey as well and that was a fun treat to see them.

Jason too!

Mimi & Pawpaw with Wesley & Miller

Since all the grandchildren were together again we tried to get another picture. We promised the older kids M&M's and then the fun times began. There were a couple good shots. Last time we took this picture Wesley was less than half the size of his cousin Miller and by the picture you can see that he has already caught up. Fun times!

There are now 4 grandchildren -Molly (5) Myles (3) Miller (9months) Wesley (9 months). We opened presents and hung out together for the rest of the day. What a fun day! Wesley was again spoiled with love and gifts. He recieved a lot of fun toys and a BIG BOY Carseat. He has almost outgrown his infant carrier. We have about 2 pounds to go, it is kind of sad.

Waking Daddy up!

Santa came!!!

and so did Mommy & Daddy, Nanna & Pappy, Mimi & Pawpaw, Uncle Chad & Aunt Stephanie, Uncle Ryan & Aunt Elisabeth, Uncle Andrew & Aunt Mel, Molly, Myles, & Miller! Lots of fun presents but most of all good time together. Wesley woke up about 6:45 on Christmas morning and the fun began. The biggest blessing of all was being with our healthy little boy on Christmas morning. What a year it has been and what a gift from God he is to us.

Playing at Nana and Pappy's house

I hate that I apologize every post for how long it has been. I think about posting all the time, but it never seems to happen. I do want to share our fun christmas pics before too much time passes. We had a great Christmas. It is so good to have a break from your normal routine and hangout with friends and family. We went to Greensboro on Wednesday before Christmas. Christmas eve we went to church at Grace and then went back to Greg's parents house for a yummy dinner with my parents. It is such a blessing to get to spend the holidays together.
